How we do it
Environmental Program
Biodiversity-Based Livelihoods
Lines of Action
Mushroom Cultivation
We promote the sustainable production of edible mushrooms as a nutritious and profitable alternative for rural families. Through controlled-environment cultivation techniques, communities learn to produce, process, and market mushrooms, generating complementary income and strengthening food security. This practice uses local resources, requires little space, and contributes to a more resilient and sustainable household economy.
Beekeeping
We promote the sustainable management of bees for the production of honey and other by-products that improve family nutrition and generate income. Beyond their productive value, bees are essential allies in pollination and nature conservation, strengthening biodiversity and agroecosystem productivity. With each hive, families support their livelihoods while helping keep surrounding landscapes alive.
Ecotourism
We promote training and capacity building for youth and communities in ecotourism, enabling the responsible use of the region’s natural, cultural, and scenic wealth. Through birdwatching tourism, we create sustainable economic opportunities that value biodiversity and strengthen a sense of territorial belonging. This initiative turns conservation into a source of learning, pride, and local development.
Coffee Farming
We promote agroforestry coffee systems that combine agricultural production with forest conservation. Coffee is grown under the shade of native trees, improving soil fertility, protecting biodiversity, and regulating microclimates. We encourage organic fertilizers and sustainable practices that maintain grain quality and ecosystem health. In this way, coffee becomes a symbol of balance between productivity, nature, and community well-being.
